Dans un petit village côtier au passé obscur, un enfant nommé Jérémi se fait implanter un coeur mécanique par son père. L'engin rotatif lui sauve la vie, mais la change à tout jamais. Alors qu'il en a déjà plein les bras à tenter de faire accepter sa différence aux villageois, on apprend qu'un ouragan fonce droit sur la côte. Pendant que l'évacuation s'organise, Jérémi, lui, refuse d'abandonner le village. Et voilà qu'un mystérieux gnôme lui rend visite...
