The Iliad
First published in 1938 by W. H. D. Rouse (1868-1950), public domain.
This translation of ''The Iliad'' equals Rouse's earlier ''Odyssey'' in power and imagination. It recreates the original action as conceived by Homer, using fresh and flexible blank verse that is both lyrical and dramatic.
Humans and gods wrestling with towering emotions. Men fighting to the death amidst the devastation and destruction of the Trojan War. To this day, the heroism and adventure in The Iliad have remained unmatched in song and story.

Homer
