Après une carrière d'artiste lyrique, il se consacre à la BD et devient un pionnier du genre, alliant réalisme et aventure scientifique. Son œuvre, marquée par un dessin précis et des scénarios captivants, a profondément influencé la BD européenne. *Professor Sato's Three Formulae* est l'une de ses dernières créations, achevée après sa mort par son ami **Bob de Moor**.
